Matt holds a BS in Business from New Hampshire College and a MS in Organizational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University. From 2005-2010, Matt was the Sawmills and Woodlands Divisional Environmental, Health and Safety Process Owner for JD Irving, Ltd in Saint John, New Brunswick. During this time, Matt oversaw Environmental and Safety compliance for 15 sawmills and over 7 million acres of forest land throughout Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. In 2010, Matt joined Bangor Hydro as a Compliance Specialist focusing on regulatory compliance including North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC), Maine Public Utilities Commission and ISO-NE requirements. This role required Matt to monitor, assess and mitigate Bangor Hydro’s compliance with over 500 regulatory and electrical reliability standards.
Currently, he is the Compliance, Security and Environmental Supervisor for Emera Maine, which includes supervising all compliance functions within the business as well as managing all environmental regulations, permitting, hazardous material handling and other environmental aspects of Emera Maine’s business. It also includes overseeing the security department for Emera Maine, which
investigates copper theft, power diversion, fraud and all other crimes against Emera Maine.
Matt holds a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) license; he is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and is
also a graduate of Bangor Region Leadership Institute Class of 2012.
